Looking Back and Looking Forward….
What a year it’s been at Great Lengths. We celebrated some major milestones, gave our salon a makeover, and had a Vegas adventure! A quick look back…
We had two big anniversaries this year. Great Lengths marked 15 years in business, and Lindsay and Jason celebrated ten years as stylists here. Lindsay and Jason joined our team about a week apart in the fall of 2006. They’ve been here ever since and we are so grateful! Great Lengths wouldn’t be the same without them!
Speaking of milestones, Richie got his official hairstylist’s license in October. Congratulations Richie!
Another big event on our calendar: the SickKids prom. Held in July, the event gives patients at the hospital a chance to enjoy a real prom experience. We were thrilled to be on hand to style hair for the kids. What an incredible night it was!
As always, our stylists spent a lot of time in the classroom, learning the latest techniques and trends. In the spring, there were workshops on cutting and a blow dry technical course, plus Jason and Richie attended a Joico Balayage and Ombré class. In August, Patrick went to a workshop on avant garde hairstyles for photo shoots and runways. In November, our stylists ventured off to Las Vegas for the Kevin Murphy Supernatural show. What happened in Vegas definitely won’t stay in Vegas—our team is bringing back all they learned about hair trends and fashions to share with our clients!
On the topic of learning, let’s not forget our own teacher, Lindsay, who is a certified Kevin.Murphy Color.Me educator. She is in such demand that she had her territory expanded, going as far as Ottawa to share her knowledge.
This year was also one of some changes at the salon. We started renovations in August to update our washroom and put in new floors. New paint, fixtures, and product displays followed. It looks amazing, if we do say so ourselves.
We added some new products to go along with our new look. The Walton Wood Farm line includes skin and bath products for women, and shower gels, beard balms, and solid colognes for men. Also new in our shop: the Pony Dry. It’s a special shower sleeve for women with long hair that allows them to wash only their roots. The length of their hair stays dry to save styling time and protect the ends from over-washing.
Also new? Our first Client Appreciation Month in November. We had food, drink, and giveaways galore. We can’t wait to do it again next year. On that note, we want to extend our thanks to all of our clients for another fantastic year. With your help, we won a Top Choice Award for Top Hair Salon in Markham. We are humbled and very thankful for the recognition.
With 2016 almost done, we’re looking forward to another great year in 2017. Have a safe and happy holiday season!
P.S. Don’t forget to enter our contest for free haircuts for a year! Simply pre-book your next three appointments and you’ll be entered! We’ll draw the winner’s name on December 31, 2016.
